‘WHY’ CORPORATE WELLNESS?

Picture
The founder  Michelle Smith is a Nurse who understands  the needs of being in a fast paced environment  with high stress and early burnout, for this reason, Michelle created a Corporate wellness program that she believes will address the needs of your organization.  Michelle  believes that health advocacy is not only for individuals but also translates this message through  her Corporate Wellness Programs. Organizations need to understand the importance of maintaining a healthy workforce, yet many remain unaware of what is required to promote and sustain a healthy work environment for their staff. It is important that organizations understand the direct impact that a  healthy workplace will have on employee health. Working 9 to 5 may be what many consider a normal full-time job. However, in an economy that often demands 24/7 activity, shift work remains common. At the same time, however, the labour force is aging and work-life balance is increasingly important to workers.

With 15 years  of working in the health care industry,  Michelle still has a smile on her face, and this is what  makes her the right person for your organization.
She is known for using her unique blend of expertise, warmth, humor, insight, compassion and down-to-earth charm to deliver interactive and accessible presentations that educate, engage and inspire her audience. When you book Michelle, your employee's will leave  knowledgeable, empowered and equipped with  strategies and practical tools that they can use immediately to improve  their health

The most common health issues faced by employees fall into one of three categories: psycho social, physical environment and health risks

Psycho-social:
  • Mental Health. Depression, anxiety and emotional interference in work and family life.
  • Employer Expectations. Excessive workload, often with unachievable and unclear guidelines, no direction and ambiguity of job responsibilities.
  • Prolonged Stress. Imposed job demands with very little support from management and no control over how work is done.
  • Toxic Work Environment. Team exclusion and lack of respect from managers and or colleagues.
  • Employee Satisfaction. Lack of recognition and few opportunities for job enrichment, enlargement or enhancement.
Physical Environment:
  • Onsite Injuries. Unsafe physical work environments that can cause immediate trauma, illness or death will lead to increased premiums and claims with Workers' Compensation and the Worker Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), as well as for short- and long-term disability programs.
  • Workplace Violence. Feelings of anger and frustration, as well as harassment and bullying, can lead to physical harm.
Health Risk Factors:
  • Unhealthy Lifestyle Choices. Poor nutrition, excessive alcohol consumption and smoking.
  • Health Practice. Sedentary habits with little or no physical activity may lead to such conditions as obesity, heart disease and high blood pressure.
